Welcome to my blog!  I have several hobbies (trying to cut back but who am I kidding?  I do medieval crafting, occasionally suit up in armor to get hit with sticks, and I paint a lot of minis.  I will post a broad spectrum of projects on here, and if something's not your thing, I hope some other projects will be.  



I made this chest with hand-powered tools apart from a sander, and the cordless drill to make a few holes (like they have a whole lot of other purposes, right?  The lock mechanism is a repurposed drawer lock I got at Lowes.

15th-Century Hutch Chest Mini-Replica

 A friend of mine has moved up in the world, and I wanted to give him a gift that reflected his new status, so I've been working on making a smaller version of a 15th-century hutch chest.  The hutch chest is a design that evolved from the earlier 6-panel chest, and it requires joinery !  So, I did the wrong part first because I got excited about the carving and carved his device and that of his lady on the front leg pieces.  Seen below in a test fitting with the rest of the front wall of the chest.  They are joined by mortis and tenon joins although I have not drilled the holes for the draw-bores yet.  Those will be done from the inside so that the pegs won't be visible.  Still some fine-tuning left to do so that the join lines are pretty, and prettying-up of the carved areas,
